We’ve partner with the Structural Engineers Association (SEA), which has been commissioned by the City of Los Angeles to create standards for retrofitting. CAL-QUAKE Construction, Inc. has retrofitted and/or done correctional foundation work on over 9,000 properties throughout the state of California.

MEET THE PEOPLE WHO MAKE CAL-QUAKE:
John Taferner,Owner started Cal-Quake in 1985 and has been making California a safer place for over 30 years. John has been hands-on since day one and continues to be in the office or out in the field everyday.
Cal-Quake has grown under the leadership of John to not only cover Southern California but the entire state. Growing Cal-quake and their services to include Cal-QuakeADU has been a priority to keep the company on trend and current with the latest laws and regulations.
John believes that a company should be a part of the
community and always give back. The company is part of many local organizations that makes the state a better place.
Joseph Goldberger, President & Managing Director of Cal-Quake has been a part of the company since 2006. Joseph had previously worked in the earthquake retrofitting industry and brought with him many years of experience in structural construction management.
Joseph is now heading up Cal-QuakeADU and is in charge
of the day to day for growing that devision of the company.

Seth Taferner, Operations & Human Resource Supervisor joined Cal-Quake in 2014. Seth leads the job execution for Cal-Quake daily and supervises all business financials throughout the entire work process for the company.
Seth makes sure that the job gets done right the first time. His follow through is exactly what's needed to complete a project smoothly and thoroughly.
Sam Taferner, Project Manager has been leading the projects for
Cal-Quake starting in 2018. He makes sure all of the t’s are crossed and the i’s are dotted on all projects.
Sam's goal on any project is making sure that the customers expectations are always met if not exceeded.
Adriana Ilarraz, Soft Story Project Coordinator started managing the Soft Story Division of Cal-Quake in January 2022. She oversees and coordinates the project from its inception to its completion.
Adriana enjoys how many moving parts there are, whether it be the customer, his coworkers or with the city. Creating a memorable and lasting experience for the customer is her overall goal.
